Wigwe University Is Set to Become the Most Expensive in Nigeria

It was reported recently that Wigwe University, founded by the late Herbert Wigwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, is expected to begin operating fully in August 2024.
The university is in Isiokpo, in the Rivers State local government area. It will offer a variety of courses in four main colleges: the College of Science and Computing, the College of Art, the College of Management and Social Sciences, and the College of Engineering.
In January this year, the university named Prof. Miles Davis, an American, as the private university's first Vice-Chancellor.
Miles Davis graduated from George Washington University in the United States with a human and organisational sciences doctorate.
Prof. Fabian Ajogwu, the founding partner of Kenna Partners and a senior advocate in Nigeria, is also a member of the board of trustees. Mrs. Mosunmola Belo-Olusoga and Dr. Ajoritsedere Awosika are also members.

Additional research revealed that Arts College, with a total cost of N9,600,00, is the least expensive. A total of ₦11,998,800 will be charged to each student enrolled in courses at the College of Engineering, College of Management and Social Sciences, and College of Science and Computing.
The fees include books, project lab supplies and consumables, personal protective equipment, e-learning resources, project lab resources, health insurance, and tuition. There is also a premium accommodation option priced at N1 million per month.
On February 9, 2024, a helicopter crash claimed the life of Herbert Wigwe, who was the founder of the university, along with his son Chizzy and wife Chizoba, perished in a helicopter crash in California.
In his message on the school's website, Wigwe stated, "I cannot change the world overnight. But if I can empower even one youth today or tomorrow, they could join me in empowering others. With time, we could change the world."
