What is the worth of Squid Game’s 45 billion Won Prize Money is USD?
One-time highest grossing movie on Netflix – Squid Game
– has left viewers, especially American viewers how much the 45 billion won prize
money actually cost in US dollars.
The conversion is basic math, as long as you have the
figures right. Here’s what it is:
·
1 Korean won is worth 0.00084 USD
·
45,600,000,000 Korean won equals
$38,460,271.20
According to the show, each participant was entitled
to 100 million won (approx. $84,341.99) which is still a lot of money to win.
Based on these calculations each participant would have still gone home with a
lot of cash to support their families. However, many of them had debts worth
billions of won and 100 million won prize money wasn’t enough.
Squid Game has risen to become one of Netflix’s popular
shows ever. There has been clamoring for season 2 by fans and no doubt the
movie team already has production rolling, but there’s no telling how much the
prize money would be increased to.
The Netflix series which started streaming on
September 17, 2021 focuses on a group of indebted people who were desperate to
clear their debts. They were first tricked to participate in a deadly kids’
game for a prize pool of 45 million won (approx.$38 million, £27 million, AU$52
million), but were later given the option of walking away which many of them
later returned.
