United States President, Joe Biden approves no interview US visa renewals in Nigeria

The US Mission in Nigeria has improved visa services to help non-immigrant visa applicants in Nigeria who are eligible to renew their visas. Previously, applicants for US visas had to attend in person for a visa interview at the US Embassy in Abuja or Lagos State on a set date.

The US Mission stated in a press statement made available to LEADERSHIP that applicants will not be required to appear in person for the interview, and that the new application procedure will begin in February at the US Consulate in Lagos and will be extended to the US Embassy in Abuja shortly after. According to the new arrangement, applicants who apply for a B1/B2, F, M, J (academic only), H, L, or C1/D (combined only) visa are eligible for a visa renewal without an interview if;

- Your previous visa was given by the Nigerian government;

- Your previous visa application is in the same classification as your existing one;

- Your previous visa was a more than one-entry, full-validity visa;

- Your previous visa has expired or will expire within the following three months from the date of application

- You have all of your passports, especially the one with the most previous visa, covering the time since the last visa was issued.

- You haven't been taken into custody or convicted of any crime or offense in the United States, even if you later received a release form or pardon; and

- You have never worked without a permit or stayed in the United States longer than your visa permitted.
