UBA to Expand Global Presence with New Saudi Arabia Office ✨

The United Bank for Africa (UBA) is poised to establish its footprint in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by January 2025, marking another milestone in its global expansion journey. The announcement was made by the Group Managing Director, Oliver Alawuba, during a valedictory event honoring four retired non-executive directors in Abuja.

Key Highlights:

• Global Growth: With branches already operating in the U.S., U.K., and France, UBA’s new office in Saudi Arabia reflects its vision to deepen international presence while maintaining its stronghold in Africa.

• Expanding Reach: UBA serves over 45 million customers across 24 countries with a workforce of more than 25,000 employees.


• Future Plans: Alongside the Saudi expansion, UBA plans to open additional subsidiaries across Africa, ensuring sustained growth.

• Oliver Alawuba emphasized the bank’s commitment to sustainability and attributed UBA’s success to the dedication and teamwork of its staff.

• Tony Elumelu, UBA’s Chairman, lauded the contributions of retired directors, highlighting their role in the bank’s global achievements.

Elumelu also stressed the importance of leveraging emerging technologies to address Africa’s challenges. He noted how innovations like UBA’s AfriCash have simplified cross-border transactions, fostering inter-African trade under initiatives like the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
