Tinubu to Celebrate the Eid-El-Kabir Festival in Nigeria

Recall that Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrived in Paris, France, for President Emmanuel Macron's Summit on New Global Financing Pact on July 22, 2023.


President Tinubu was met at the airport by Ambassador Kayode Laro and other top government officials from the Nigerian Embassy and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs after his flight landed at exactly 6.47 pm local time on Tuesday. 


This was made known according to a release issued on Tuesday evening by his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, Mr Dele Alake. 


On Wednesday, President Tinubu got the full briefings on Nigeria's position on the Summit and the scheduled sideline meetings with leaders and international organizations from Ambassador Laro, Permanent Secretary Adamu Lamuwa, and other officials. 


The President will attend a two-day Summit from Thursday, June 22nd and Friday, June 23rd, to examine opportunities to restore fiscal space to countries facing difficult short-term financial challenges, particularly the most indebted, and to mobilize innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change and economies grappling with the effects of Covid-19 and the energy crisis. 

Tinubu Travels From Paris to London for a “Private Visit.”

President Bola Tinubu left Paris for London on Saturday for a "private visit."


"Tinubu, who was originally scheduled to return to Abuja on Saturday, will now proceed to London, United Kingdom, for a short private visit," his Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communication, and Strategy, Dele Alake, said in a statement on Saturday.


The message is titled, 'After a successful Paris outing, President Tinubu is travelling to London on a private visit.'


According to Alake, the "President will be back in the country in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival."


Tinubu wrapped up his official trip to Paris on Friday, where he attended the 'A New Global Financing Pact' event sponsored by French President Emmanuel Macron. 


Aside from attending the event, the President met with fellow heads of state and government, global business leaders, and chief executives of prominent multilateral and development financial institutions from around the world.


Meanwhile, the President has hailed the African Development Bank's commitment of $520 million to specialist agro-processing zones.


He thanked the multilateral institution's President, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, for further opening up the economy to investments that create jobs and reduce poverty.


The President remarked this when he welcomed Adesina following the two-day summit on A New Global Financing Pact in Paris, according to a statement signed by Alake on Saturday.

He said, ‘’President Bola Tinubu on Friday concluded his official trip to Paris, France, during which he had an outstanding participation in a summit for ‘A New Global Financing Pact’ hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron.


‘’Aside participating in the summit where he represented Nigeria well, President Tinubu also held high-profile sideline meetings with fellow heads of state and government, global business leaders and chief executives of leading multilateral and development finance institutions from around the world.


”The summit afforded the President the opportunity of projecting, on a global stage, his advocacy for widening the fiscal space, economic justice for Africa as the world accelerates the pace of energy transition and the urgency of addressing the pressing issues of poverty and climate change.


‘’President Tinubu, who was initially scheduled to be back in Abuja on Saturday, will now proceed to London, United Kingdom, for a short private visit. The President will be back in the country in time for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival.’
