SEPLAT PETROLEUM'S CEO KICKED OUT OF NIGERIA OVER RACISM ALLEGATION

Seplat Energy Plc CEO Roger Thomson Brown has been kicked out of Nigeria over racism, and favoritism amidst numerous allegations and has since returned to Seplat Energy's UK office.

It was reported on March 3rd, that Nigeria's Ministry of Interior in a letter sent to the Seplat Energy Board that the ministry received a petition from the solicitor of the concerned workers and stakeholders of the petroleum company over various discrimination charges with countless witness testimonies.

Mr. Roger Brown was invited for questioning and even though he was available in the country at the time refused to attend.

The allegations also showed that Mr. Roger Thomson Brown has been staying in the country illegally due to him having an invalid CERPAC and hence in violation of Immigration laws and regulations.

The minister, therefore, declared that Mr. Roger's stay in Nigeria is against the national interest, and his work permit and residence permit have since been revoked.

In response, the board of Seplat Energy has refuted the allegations, claiming it is "false and carefully orchestrated to spread false information"

The board also reiterated their full confidence in Mr. Rogers and that he has an "unblemished record of service and leadership in the company"

The petroleum company started operations in Nigeria in 2009 and named Mr. Rogers its Chief operating officer on August 1, 2020, an advancement from his role as Group Chief Financial Officer a role he held for 7 years.

It is yet to be seen whether the interior ministry will overturn the decision if further evidence surfaces, for now, Mr. Rogers cannot work or reside in the country.
