Nike To Release Zion Williamson's First Signature Shoe
Zion Williamson's first signature shoe, the Zion 1, will be released on Friday, April 23rd by the Jordan Brand. In July 2019, the basketball star extended his partnership with Nike, in a deal worth $75 million, which makes Zion the first Gen-Z signature athlete in the history of the NBA.
The Zion 1, will be released in four colors - Gen Zion, which will be released on the 23rd of April; ZNA, which will be released on the 5th of May; Noah, which will be released on the 19th of May; and Marion, to be released on the 26th of May.
The Noah version, named after Zion Williamson's little brother,Noah, features doodles on his visits to Nike's world headquarters alongside his older brother. According to Zion, the shoe captures the essence of his Noah's spirits. The Marion version was inspired by Williamson's colorful hometown of Marion, South Carolina.
The Gen Zion version comes in classic black and white, but will have colored versions released.
In describing the shoes, the Nike official website writes, “With a down-to-earth persona and abilities that are out of this world, Zion is unlike anybody else. On the court, the gentle spirit who’s all about family transforms into an unmatched force of unstoppable athleticism and speed. The Zion 1 kicks off his signature line with a design inspired by his duality of humility meet superhuman ability."
They continued, "Jordan Brand designers looked to create a silhouette that both enabled his immense physical tools on the court while also illustrating personal traits that make him look like a one-of-a-kind superstar. The result: A "'Z"' pattern along the side of the shoe that emphasizes his first name."
Zion Williamson, who's just 20, made his debut at an All-Star Game this season and is averaging 26.8 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.
