NFL Pledges to donate $250 million to fight racism

The ongoing #BlackLivesMatter movement against the inhuman killings of blacks in the United States has dug out many instances of relegations against the blacks in the country. The movement has revealed that the white police inhuman treatments of blacks are only a product of a long term ingrained philosophy of the blacks being a subordinate to the white. It has shown that the ill-treatment against blacks is evident in virtually all aspects of the United States, including economy, business opportunities, media, and others. It is against this background that NLF pledged to donate $250 million over a  10-year period in order to alleviate the situation of the blacks in the US.

The league promised to increase its social injustice footprint by donating the money to help alleviate the condition of the blacks in the United States.  The donation expands more than the initial $100 million owners struck with the Players Coalition.

The additional fund is to “combat systemic racism and support the battle against the ongoing and historic injustices faced by African Americans,” one league official wrote in a text message to The Undefeated.

In addition to this, the NFL also declared its commitment to collaborating with players to determine the possible ways to support programs like police reform, criminal justice reform, economic and educational advancement of underprivileged communities. In order to achieve this, the team would be leveraging its other networks such as NFL Network and NFL Films. This is to hasten the result of the current movement against social justice issues and other related issues suffered by blacks in the United States.

In the first two-plus seasons of the agreement with the coalition, the group donated its first $44 million to fund social justice work. On the national level, the league has awarded grants to 20 organizations. Also, the NFL  Foundation has funded 350 grassroots programs.
