New Tesla factory launched in Germany as Elon Musk is seen dancing

In a bid to relieve strain on its other operations in the United States and China, Tesla has launched its first manufacturing site in Europe, which was done by Elon Musk himself.

During the official opening of Tesla's Gigafactory in Berlin, Germany. CEO Elon Musk demonstrated his wonderful dance moves, which he also did when the company made its first deliveries at the Gigafactory in Shanghai.

At the opening, Tesla delivered its first German-made automobiles to thirty customers and their families.

According to Reuters, Musk made good remarks about the launch as he said “This is a great day for the factory.” He also showed great optimism as he added “another step in the direction of a sustainable future.”

Musk complimented German engineering when he revealed intentions to build a car manufacturing plant in Germany in November 2019.

“Everyone knows that German engineering is outstanding, for sure. That’s part of the reason why we are locating our Gigafactory Europe in Germany. We are also going to create an engineering and design center in Berlin because Berlin has some of the best art in the world.”

The launch of the company's gigantic new factory in the heart of Europe is undoubtedly a cause for celebration for the CEO. Seeing how Tesla has been put through the rough patch during the factory's construction, from substantial local opposition to important environmental issues.

Emerging Challenges

With reports gotten from Reuters, Giga Berlin is not without its critics. A protest was seen just outside the site on Tuesday as some protesters gathered to express their displeasure.

They are concerned that the plant would consume too much water, and they are dissatisfied with the number of trees that have been cut down to set up the massive factory.

Analysts at Deutsche Bank's autos sector stated in a study report on Monday, “The impact on the local water supply continues to be a concern for the future of the plant.”

They went on to say that in order to truly boost production, Tesla will have to show evidence of proper water usage and air pollution management.

The report also revealed that “sources indicated that the company may completely exhaust the water reserve in the region with the first stage of the plant build-out, and will need additional extraction permits in order to expand its capacity any further in the future.”

Vacancies

With the recent opening, the company now faces the enormous challenge of getting things up and running, from setting up supply lines to hiring people.

Hundreds of vacant roles at the new Berlin facility are listed on the company's careers portal, including roles for supervisor, engineer, electrician, and quality assurance positions.

Projections

According to the Auto Motor Und Sport publication in Germany, during the first few weeks of production, the Tesla plant aims to produce 2,000 automobiles.

Tesla, on the other hand, believes the Berlin factory has the potential to make an annual production of up to 500,000 cars.
