NBS says Nigeria to Launch Labour Force Survey Report in Q2 2023

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has announced that the Nigeria Labour Force Survey report will be launched in the second quarter of 2023. In a statement on their Twitter account, the NBS revealed that they have been collaborating with the World Bank and International Labour Organisation since 2021 to improve the survey methodology and implementation.


This became necessary in order to devise a more sustainable method of conducting the survey , that accommodates the unique characteristics of the Nigerian labour market” part of the statement said


The aim of this partnership is to create a sustainable method of conducting the survey that is tailored to the unique characteristics of the Nigerian labour market. The NBS has been using the Labour Force Survey since 2010 to provide valuable data on the employment situation in Nigeria, and the improved methodology will capture a wider range of information that is better suited to the country's employment landscape.


The Labour Force Survey covers several topics, including the labour force participation rate, employment by sector, and the unemployment rate. Policymakers, businesses, and researchers use this data to make informed decisions that promote job creation and economic growth.


The collaboration between the NBS , World Bank, and International Labour Organization  has resulted in significant progress towards improving the survey methodology and implementation. The updated methodology will capture a broader range of information, while the improved implementation will ensure that the survey is conducted more efficiently and effectively.
