MTN launches new initiative to support budding entrepreneurs
MTN Nigeria on Wednesday formally launched a new
campaign dubbed MTN Pulse "Blow My Hustle" as part of its mission to
promote young entrepreneurs in Nigeria.
In the past, the mobile operator's MTN
Foundation launched a variety of initiatives to assist Nigerians, but the
"Blow My Hustle" campaign intends to choose 100 small and medium
enterprises already in operation and new ventures that would receive mentoring
and training. Only 20 companies will be eligible for the grant, though.
Adia Sowho, Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, said
the initiative demonstrates MTN's love for young people and how it matches with
its goal to connect during a press conference in Lagos.
Sowho claims that entrepreneurs in Nigeria between the
ages of 18 and 36 struggle to raise capital for their ventures, a problem that
the MTN Foundation is trying to remedy to the best of its abilities
through the "Blow My Hustle" Initiative."
“The ‘hustle spirit’ amongst Nigeria’s young people is
truly inspiring as they are innovative, entrepreneurial. MTN is here to support
that ‘hustle’ so that their dreams can become reality. Young business owners
have told us what they need, and with MTN Pulse Blow My Hustle, we will share
business skills from experts in relevant fields, and create access to financial
grants. We look forward to the transformation that this initiative will
propel,” Sowho said in a press release.
She said that 20 people will receive cash awards and
training totaling N68 million to advance their businesses, while all entrants that
advance to the final round will be eligible for business grants, training, and
data.
Tricia Olufemi-Olumide, also known as Triciabiz,
Oluwatosin Ajibade, also known as Mr. Eazi, Chukwuma Monye, a social innovator
and entrepreneur, and Olumide Soyombo, the co-founder of Bluechip Technologies,
are among the panelists from various business sectors.
