Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg Announces Whatsapp New Update of Screen-Sharing

Recently, Meta's instant messaging network, WhatsApp has added screen-sharing, a new feature that will put the app amongst big video conferencing competitors apps such as Google Meet, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams, among others.

This development was made known by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, who confirmed this on Tuesday via a post on his Instagram account. He said that users now can exchange presentations or documents during live video sessions.

The function, which was originally made available to Android beta testers in late May, is accessed by touching or clicking the 'Share' button. Users can share either a single app or their full screen.

Screen sharing operates similarly to how it does on traditional video conferencing services like Google Meet and Zoom.

WhatsApp stated that the screen-sharing ability started rolling out on Android, iOS, and Windows Desktop one after the other. This implies that this feature may not be available at the moment, but it will surely take effect when each operating system reaches its turn.

  • “Whether sharing documents for work, browsing photos with family, planning a vacation or shopping online with friends, or just helping grandparents with tech support – screen sharing lets you share a live view of your screen during the call. You can initiate screen sharing by clicking on the ‘Share’ Icon and choosing between sharing a specific application or sharing the entire screen,” WhatsApp stated in a document.

More on WhatsApp Recent Updates

The introduction of the screen-sharing function which was recently added is amongst one of the numerous additions brought out by WhatsApp since the year started—this is to establish a versatile service. Not too long, WhatsApp introduced a feature where users can edit their texts in the app.

According to the CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg said that sent messages can still be edited for about 15 minutes after they are sent. Before now, users only had the option of deleting a message or sending a new message that has the change effected.

While this was one way, many users find it challenging to battle with messages being sent out to GB WhatsApp users who can view deleted messages, voice notes, and status as the app gives them the ability. However, this app is not affiliated with Meta but it has most features if not all.

WhatsApp also announced Chat Lock, a new feature that allows users to lock and hide chats within the program.

According to Zuckerberg's explanation of the function, conversation Lock will relocate a conversation thread from the app's usual display inbox to a separate folder that can only be accessed with a password or biometric, such as face identification or fingerprint detection.

Meta, WhatsApp's parent company, stated Chat Lock will secure "your most intimate conversations" and conceal alerts from them, calling it "another layer of security."

As part of its privacy package, Meta allows WhatsApp users to encrypt backups, disable screenshots, and have their messages immediately disappear.

When you lock a chat, you may ensure that important information and personal data included inside that communication remain secure even if someone else has access to your phone.

This degree of control improves the overall security of your discussion and protects your privacy.
