In 2019, Dr. Priscilla K. Mante, a Ghanaian neuropharmacologist was the only African amongst 14 L'Oréal-UNESCO International Rising Talents globally. She Has Been the recipient of multiple grants and fellowships like the OWSD Early Career Fellowship. She was also the recipient of the 2018 L'Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Sub-Saharan Fellowship.
In 2013, after acquiring her Ph.D. at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), she was retained as a senior lecturer. Dr. Priscilla Kolibea Mante is focused on actualizing her vision of young people sharing their talents in STEM with the rest of the world. This desire is further revealed during an interview session with the Business Insider, where she expounds on the importance of leading her mentees by example and guiding them towards opportunities they never knew existed. Dr. Priscilla hopes her mentees are taking steps to guarantee that the next era of scientists does not face gender stereotypes.
Currently, she mentors 20 undergraduates annually to sharpen their talents and interests into conceivable projects. Apart from her investment in the academic and professional development of her students, Dr. Kolibea Mante has conducted more than 20 associate reviews while working on her research in resistant epilepsy. The Business Insider predicts that her research will have an immense improvement on the quality of life for those living with epilepsy. World Science Forum observes that Dr.Koliba Mante's research isolates medicinal compounds from Ghanian floral for activity against drug-resistant epilepsy.
