Kevin Durant’s $1 million Investment now worth $15 million as Uber Acquires Postmates
Kevin Durant, the two-time NBA champion has made the headlines
once again another big win.
In 2016, Durant made a $1 million investment in
Postmates. Four years later, the amount has multiplied by 15, after Forbes
reported that his $1 million investment would soon become a $15 million
investment if Uber finalizes the acquisition of Postmates. Earlier this week,
Uber Technologies announced that it would acquire Postmates in a $2.65 billion
deal.
Postmates is a well-known delivery service platform
that delivers to customers anything they need such as food, groceries,
packages, or anything else. Postmates isn’t necessarily the most preferred
delivery application when it comes to food and groceries, however, many users
make use of the app’s other beneficial features which generates its revenues.
“I’m hungry one day, and Rich was like, ‘Yeah, [this
company] will bring you food from any restaurant.’ I’m like, ‘They’ve got an
app like that?’ Can you call somebody up there? We need to get involved because
we use this s**t on a day-to-day basis,” Durant narrated how he got involved with
Postmates.
In a tweet last year, Darren Rovell of The Action
Network posted that there was a possibility of Durant’s investment increasing
in an estimated jump.
Over again, Durant is seen relentlessly pursuing his
off-court business interests and investments. He continues to expand his
portfolio by making investments in Philadelphia Union franchise. He purchased
5% of the soccer club with the option of purchasing an additional 5% at a
future date. Durant not only intends to invest in Major League Soccer clubs,
but also has plans to purchase his own NBA team in the future. The average team
worth $2.1 billion, therefore, Durant may have to step up his portfolio really
soon.
Forbes
ranks Durant No. 7 on its World’s Highest-Paid Athletes list, with the player
cashing in $64 million over the last 12 months Forbes also reported that Durant
has made a total of $500 million from his salary and endorsements throughout
his NBA career.
It was also reported by Forbes that Thirty Five
Ventures, a company founded by Kevin Durant and his business partner/manager
Rich Klieman has 15 full-time employees that focus on Kevin Durant’s
investments, endorsements, and other media activities.
Durant is taking his time to build his fortune besides
his NBA salary. As he rises in his fortunes, Durant has also learnt to give
back to society. He has an after school program in his hometown, created for
children from low-income families.
