John J. Webb appointed as Cigna Health’s president of west Tennessee/Arkansas/Mississippi
Cigna, a healthcare
service provider company has appointed John J. Webb its new market president
for West Tennessee, Arkansas, and Mississippi.
The new appointment puts Webb in charge of
more than 500 employees. He will also be in charge of leading a team of
healthcare professionals and partners within the communities to create
innovative solutions and boost customer relations.
Webb told Black
Enterprise that he was elated to become a part of Cigna, and hopes to contribute
his quota by bringing “a combination of corporate experience and venture
capital expertise.” He added that the focus of Cigna is also to improve the “health,
wellbeing, and peace of mind” of communities. This is in addition to the
company’s focus on its clients and customers.
The new market president
may have already figured out most of what the healthcare company seeks to
achieve and has successfully merged it with his vision. His goal is to improve
customer service in the regions he oversees, and also, support local partners
through several initiatives that surface from time to time.
“Cigna is working to make
health care more affordable, predictable, and simple. As we do that, we want to
expand the reach of the health plan options we have based on our strong health
provider relationships,” Webb said. “That’s why we support the efforts of local
partners who address health equity, food insecurity, opioid addiction, and
other issues such as the Orange Mound Community Center in Memphis, the Matt
Adams Foundation in Arkansas, and many more.”
To help some of Cigna’s
immediate communities amid the coronavirus pandemic, Webb has put into
consideration some initiatives through which the company can provide support to
the communities around. The support includes providing healthcare solutions to
help clients and customers receive medical and health care amid the public
health crisis.
“To help our customers
during the COVID-19 crisis, Cigna immediately took a series of steps such as
waiving out-of-pocket costs for testing and treatment and providing our
customers with resources and new telehealth options” said Webb.
Webb also mentioned that
the goal of him and his team in these times is to “catch conditions early while
they’re preventable and better monitor potential issues for specific
populations” in the states his team covers. One way Webb and his team hopes to
achieve this goal is through enhanced “health literacy” to educate and engage
people more about the importance of their wellbeing and how to go about it.
