Joe Biden Endorsed by Former Trump Senior Administration Official Miles Taylor
A former senior Trump administration official, Miles Taylor endorsed Joe Biden in a Monday campaign. He is one of the former highest-ranking Trump administration officials to endorse Biden.
Mr. Taylor served as chief of staff to Kirstjen Nielsen, Homeland Security Secretary. He accused President Trump of continually using his office for political gains such as instructing officials to cut wildfire relief funding to California because voters stood in opposition to him in 2016.
“He told us to stop giving money to people whose houses had burned down from a wildfire because he was so rageful that people in the state of California didn’t support him and that politically it wasn’t a base for him,” Taylor said in the video.
The former senior Trump administration official, who is also a longtime Republican, with a record of holding a position at DHS from 2017 to 2019, endorsed former Vice President Joe Biden in a video. The video was produced by the Republican Voters Against Trump group. Taylor also wrote an open published letter to Americans stating that Trump was “dangerous” for America, alongside several other allegations.
“What we saw week in and week out, for me, after two and a half years in that administration, was terrifying. We would go in to try to talk to him about pressing national security issues—cyberattack, terrorism threat—he wasn’t interested in those things. To him, they weren’t priorities,” Taylor said.
In response to Taylor’s comment about President Trump and his endorsement of Joe Biden, White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere said Taylor was “another creature of the D.C. Swamp who never understood the importance of the President’s agenda or why the American people elected him and clearly just wants to cash-in”
White House adviser Jared Kushner also frowned at Taylor’s move against Trump, saying that Taylor was never up to the job and needed to be replaced.
“It makes a lot of sense to me that he’s endorsing Joe Biden because when he was working at the Department of Homeland Security, no wall was built and the border was wide open. That’s why the President changed up the team there,” Kushner said.
Several other Trump administration officials including former national security adviser John Bolton have spoken against President Trump, and some have also endorsed former vice president Biden like former Trump administration’s communications director Anthony Scaramucci.
