The Brooklyn boy is now unreachable by other musicians; he is the first billionaire rapper and now the first artist to give up on the race for the Top 10 black billionaires.

Even though it has been five years since he released an album and six since he did a tour, Jay-Z has proven himself to be more than just an artist in music but an artist in business as well. 

Jayz, named Shawn Corey Carter at birth, has been in the music industry for over 30 years with multiple awards and a record label to his name, but his greatest investment still might be his $200 million acquisition of the Armand de Brignac Champagne in 2014, which is now valued at around $640 million.

Amongst other ventures like the Rocawear and Rebook deals, Jay Z still makes money from his record label, Roc Nation, even if he is not in the studio recording rap hits. Artists under his record label are still shaking the industry.

Artists like Rihanna, Jay-Cole, Alicia Keys, and DJ Khaled are all dropping hit tracks now and then to keep the cash flowing.

Jay-Z has always believed he is more than just a musician or rapper. In his interview with Warren Buffet, before he became the first rap billionaire nine years later, Jay-Z said he likes to invest his money in things he understands for sure, a strategy that has paid off, as Warren tagged him the man to learn from.

His latest investment was in November of 2020, when it was announced that he would be joining TPCO Holdings, a cannabis production company, as a visionary officer while also collaborating with Cohiba to launch his cigars.

According to the latest Forbes report, Jayz's net worth places him as the 1210th richest person in the world, an upswing from a much lower position before 2023.

Additionally, he will soon be recognized as one of the top 10 black billionaires in the world, although he may not be catching up with Aliko Dangote, Africa's Number 1, any time soon; the number 10 spot is currently held by Oprah Winfrey with a $2.6 billion net worth.

Jay-Z is a household name in the music industry and one of the top 5 greatest MCs of all time, with a lot of artists attributing their career success to him, including Rihanna, and Kanye West. He also helped launch J. Cole's and many other people's careers.

Even if he retires, despite what he claimed that he wouldn't, and as he was asked in his interview with Billboard last year, his name cannot be easily erased from the sands of time.
