Jack Dorsey Launches Bluesky: The New Decentralized Social Media Platform

Founder and Ex-Twitter CE0, Jack Dorsey has recently just launched a new social media platform called “Bluesky” based on the principle of allowing users to build a both 

shared and open social media platform.

In 2019, Bluesky was pitched as a “decentralized network” which was basically and extension of Twitter but became an independent company last year. 

How Does Bluesky Work?

Many users have stated that Bluesky might just be a replica of Twitter as many of the interface designs and functions are very similar. But, the team behind Bluesky argues that it's a fundamentally different platform with a different philosophy. While Twitter is a centralized platform that is controlled by a single company, Bluesky is a decentralized platform that is controlled by its users

Like Twitter, Bluesky allows users to see updates on the Home timeline, with different feeds for just "posts" and "posts and replies." However, Bluesky also aims to provide greater privacy, data ownership, and control for users. It allows creators to be independent from platforms and developers, and offers the freedom to design and customize their experience by giving them control over their 

algorithms.

Despite being in the early stages of development and only available by invitation, Bluesky has already generated significant interest. The platform boasts over 20,000 users and counting, with demand expected to continue growing.

How to Sign Up On Bluesky

Currently, the Bluesky app is still in its beta testing stage and an invite code is needed to get the application after which new users can sign up with their email address and then create a password.

You could either get an invite code from a friend who already has an account on Bluesky or simply go to the Bluesky website and join the waitlist by providing your email address.
