The Central Bank of Nigerian had decided to join the Crypto currency movement after trying to shutdown crypto trading in the country. They tried to prevent Nigerian citizens from trading crypto but their plan backfired. Today, the federal government of Nigeria launched eNaira, a crypto currency that will trade in line with the Naira note.
The invention of the eNaira is to complement the Naira and it's not intended to replace it, says the Nigeria Central bank. “make financial transactions easier and seamless for every strata of the society,” the CBN said in emailed statement on Saturday, according to the report.
As mentioned above, the Nigeria government disliked crypto trading and President Buhari banned crypto trading in the banking sector in February 2021, just to later released eNaira a few months after. The eNaira will be issued by the Nigerian Central Bank and it will be well regulated by the CBN.
