Africa's leading integrated payment and digital commerce company, Interswitch, earlier announced its plan to integrate Google Pay into its Interswitch Payment Gateway (IPG) platform.
The development gives Nigerian businesses and individuals the ability to benefit from its easy access and security of digital storage and contactless payments, aligning with the global trends towards more streamlined transactions.
With this integration, merchants can keep storage details within the Google Wallet. Also, the integration gives an easy checkout process on the Interswitch platform, which aids in the user experience.
The Interswitch Payment Gateway allows the use of International Cards on its platform, thereby giving businesses the access to transact with clients globally.
Speaking on the recent development, the Managing Director of Digital Commerce & Merchant Acquiring at Interswitch, Muyiwa Asagba spoke on the company's plan to deliver cutting-edge payment solutions, he said,
We are proud to align with Google Pay, as it exemplifies our commitment to delivering cutting-edge payment solutions that facilitate seamless transactions for businesses and their customers. By integrating Google Pay into our Payment Gateway, we are empowering businesses to harness the potential of a global customer base while ensuring secure and reliable payments.
Security is the most important requirement when trying to solve the issues of digital payments. With the partnership Interswitch has with Google Pay, the platform promises to provide safer transactions and a good user experience for its users.
This includes industry-standard tokenization, where transactions are done with the use of a virtual card number, which adds additional security to any potential fraud. When users lose their device, they can quickly safeguard their information using the "Find my device" function, - this further enhances the security of their transactions.
Speaking on this, Jenny Cheng, Vice President and General Manager of Google Wallet, has this to say.
Users can simply add their debit and credit cards to the Google Wallet app and feel confident that their financial information is safe and secure when they’re making a purchase or catching a train.
The integration with Google Pay is a good step towards transforming the online payment landscape, thereby enabling businesses and consumers to interact with the digital world.
