How to Link Your NIN to Your Airtel Line (Airtel NIN code)
In December 2020, the Nigerian Communications
Commission (NCC) ordered telecom providers in Nigeria to immediately
disable any SIM cards that have not been linked with the National Identity
Numbers (NIN).
Up to April 2022, all attempts to disable unregistered
NIN-linked SIM cards were unsuccessful.
The subscribers' mobile lines were blocked or
disconnected as a result of their failure to register with NIN.
There are 3 different ways to link your NIN to your
Airtel number
STEP
1: Link your NIN via Airtel NIN code
·
On the Airtel line you want to link, dial
*121#.
·
Type 1 for “NIN Capture” and send.
·
Send after entering your 11-digit NIN.
A confirmation message will arrive soon after you
submit. Simply wait a little before trying again if you receive an error.
By entering your information on the Airtel official
NIN site or by dialing *121#, you can also submit a NIN for a friend or member
of your family. If you do not yet have a NIN, you can identify the location
nearest to you by dialing *386#.
STEP
2: Link your NIN via Airtel NIN portal
·
Visit http://airtel.com.ng/nin/
·
Next, enter your Airtel number, whether it
is for a mobile device, MiFi, router, or ODU.
·
Next, select "Proceed" and
"Confirm OTP code."
·
Finish it off by entering your National
Identification Number.
STEP
3: Link via NIMC MobileID App
·
To use this method and receive an OTP for
installing the Mobile ID app, you must have your National Identification Number
(NIN), which was issued by the NIMC or any of its accredited agents, and
the mobile number that you used to register for the NIN.
How
to retrieve your NIN on your Airtel line
If you have previously registered but are having
trouble remembering your NIN, you can quickly find it by dialing *346#
immediately from your phone using your Airtel line.
How
to register for NIN
NIN is a unique 11-digit identification number
assigned to every Nigerian above 18 once they're registered. It stands for
National Identification Number.
If you are yet to register for
the NIN, you can go to any NIMC Enrolment Centers or your choice telco
centers (select network providers have been authorized to conduct NIN
registrations, Airtel inclusive).
Here's a step-by-step guide:
·
Visit the Pre Enrolment Portal to access
the NIMC Pre Enrolment online form, and then download and print the Pre
Enrolment Slip.
·
Your application should be submitted at
the nearby NIMC Registration Center.
·
You will be notified when your card is
ready
