How Nigerian Movie ‘Blood Sisters’ topped Netflix chart

Netflix's top 10 movies in early May, 2022,
included the popular Nigerian movie Blood Sisters, which came in at number
9.
The film, at the time, received favorable reviews from
critics barely a week after its premier, helping the Netflix production gain
recognition throughout the world.
Heavy-weight names in the Nigerian film industry
including Dima-Okojie, Nancy Isime, Kate Henshaw-Nuttal, Deyemi Okanlawon,
and Uche Jombo all starred in the film.
The film is a limited series categorized as a Crime TV
Show. Ebony Live TV Studios, a company owned by Mo Abudu, produced the
movie.
In celebration of the series milestone, Executive
Producer Mo Abudu wrote on Instagram:
“BLOOD SISTERS has made the NETFLIX TOP TEN GLOBAL
LIST OF TV SHOWS, WITH ELEVEN MILLION HOURS VIEWED IN THE LAST FIVE DAYS in our
FIRST WEEK OF LAUNCH.This is our time, A TV SHOW MADE IN NIGERIA FOR THE WORLD.

better than some shows made in the UK and the United States of America!!! Last

Africans residing in the diaspora and audiences from
all over Africa watch Nigerian movies, which have a massive fan base. The
popularity of the movie may have been greatly influenced by the excellent reviews
it has received and the big African audience.
According to Nairametrics, if the film maintains its
current pace, it may surpass 20 million viewing hours; however, this will
require further advertising and peer-to-peer referrals.
Blood Sisters is a story wriien by Craig
Freimond, about two best friends who must flee after one inadvertently kills
the other's abusive fiancé only hours before their wedding. Temidayo Makanjuola
is credited as the series creator for the four-part limited series, which is
directed Kenneth Gyang and Biyi Bandele.
Ini Dima-Okojie and Nancy Isime are the series' leads,
and supporting cast members include Kate Henshaw, Kehinde Bankole, Gabriel
Afolayan, Daniel Etim-Effiong, Wale Ojo, and Genoveva Umeh.
Since its debut, the show has dominated the charts in
more than 20 nations, including the UK and France.
