Hoody Hoos: The Master P Cereal Brand

Legendary rapper and serial entrepreneur Master P, in October, launched a new cereal brand called Uncle P’s Hoody Hoos, which is available in stores nationwide.

“You got milk, we’ve got cereal,” Master P wrote on Instagram. “We’re changing the game. The more we make, the more we give.”

Uncle P’s Hoody Hoos Cereal is available in different flavors such as Tropical fruit & Marshmallow, Honey Drip, and Cinnamon Apple.

Master P said Hoody Hoos and the Uncle P food line, in general, is all about helping others open doors of opportunities. It is a brand that stands out because it not only serves as a delicious breakfast but aims to support Black communities.

“Hoody Hoos Cereal is not only a delicious breakfast or snack but is making a difference,” said P. “A percentage of every cereal box sold goes to providing inner-city kids in the community with education, resources, and activities to help build their future.”

The new Uncle P cereal brand is part of the line of “Uncle P” food products created to offer consumers Black-owned alternatives to other products. Especially brands and products that supposedly portrayed black culture but had nothing to do with Black-ownership, failing to give back to Black communities. For example, brands like Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben’s were perceived to be Black-owned. It wasn’t until recently that Master P realized that such brands only perpetuated racial stereotypes, he told CNN.

“When you look at Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, a lot of those products are mockeries of African-American people and couldn’t even feed our communities. With Uncle P, the more we make, the more we give. And the only way to give is by owning these products,” Master P said.

He added that the Uncle P brand aims to create more job opportunities in Black communities. He also hopes to use a portion of the profits the company makes to develop real estate in black communities.

“Right now we’re burning down our blocks and our communities while protesting injustice, but if we’re able to own products and put money back into our community, we could buy those blocks back instead of burning them down,” P said. “If they made billions of dollars off Aunt Jemima and Uncle Ben, imagine how much we’ll make to give back to our own community.”

Although the Uncle P food line was launched in March 2020, it didn’t gain wide recognition until many big brands began rebranding and changing their controversial logos, following the nationwide Black Lives Matter protests.

“I’m grateful that I’m in a position to add some diversity in packaged foods,” P said. “It’s not just about having the Uncle P products but also having a good cause behind it. I’m happy that I can make a difference in my communities.”

Other products in the Uncle P food products line include Uncle P’s Original Syrup. Uncle P’s Louisiana Seasoned Rice, Rap Noodles, Uncle P’s Buttermilk Pancake and Waffle Mix.

Master P is working on series of businesses, he is very involved in startup businesses, Syrup business, Supercars, chips, and he is still running Nolimit records.
