Google has expanded Bard to 40 additional languages, including Swahili, the first African language to be included, as well as 59 new nations and territories.
According to Google, the expansion includes new capabilities that allow users to have a better experience, increase their creativity, and get more done. With this extension, Bard is now available in Swahili, Chinese, German, Spanish, Arabic, Hindi, and Spanish. Users may now use Bard in their favourite language, with text-to-speech support available in eight languages.
Dorothy Ooko, Google's Head of Communications and Public Affairs, SSA, stated, “We’re excited that this is Bard’s largest expansion to date – we see its global availability as a great democratizer of knowledge.
“That’s why we created Bard: to help you explore that curiosity, augment your imagination and ultimately get your ideas off the ground — not just by answering your questions, but by helping you build on them.”
New changes have been made as part of the expansion to make the Bard experience more engaging and user-friendly. With a simple click on the sound button, the 'Listen to Responses' function now adds an audio layer to Bard's responses, making it beneficial for acquiring specific pronunciation or interpreting a script.
Users may now customize Bard's replies by altering the tone and style to five distinct options: basic, lengthy, short, professional, or informal, providing a personalized interaction to meet specific needs, according to the search engine platform. While this function was first offered in English, plans are in the works to expand it to other languages, making it more accessible to people worldwide.
Four (4) new features were also released by Google to help people get more done. Users may now bookmark and title their chats with Bard, making it easy to revisit crucial information or ideas later.
Users may now export Python code to Replit in addition to Google Colab using the export code to additional locations functionality, making it easy to share code with others or utilize it in other projects. Users will now be able to share comments with peers via shareable links, making it easier to collaborate on projects and receive feedback on ideas. Another new feature is the ability for users to post photos with prompts to Bard.
