Founder of Online Payment Platform, CashApp, Reportedly Stabbed and Killed In San Francisco

Bob Lee, the tech executive who was the founder of online payment company-CashApp, has died after being stabbed multiple times in San Francisco. 

The San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) reported a stabbing on Tuesday around 2:35am. Officers found a 43 year old male with life threatening stab wounds and took him to the hospital after which he died later on, said the police. 

At the time of his death, Bob Lee was working as the Chief Product officer for a San Francisco cryptocurrency company named “MobileCoin”. He was said to have been extremely passionate about the enhancement of financial systems so as to provide users with more privacy in all their transactions and enable them to send money across international borders without being charged excessive fees.

“Bobby worked harder than anyone and was the smartest person I have ever known. He will be missed by all those that knew him,” Richard Lee, his father, said.

“I’m so saddened and disheartened to lose my brother, he really was the best of us. I was so fortunate to grow up with him, and I feel like I’ve lost part of myself.” His brother, Tim Oliver Lee, wrote in a Facebook post

The state of things is such that the police have refused to release much information about the crime and no arrests have been made yet. According to the police department, “the homicide is an active investigation”. 

Bob Lee’s death is a huge loss for the entirety of the tech community especially since he was popularly admired for his innovative thinking and ability to turn his ideas into reality and many who knew him have expressed their shock and sadness following his passing. Lee’s Coworkers, friends, and family members have shared their respective memories of his kindness, intelligence and character painting a picture of a man who was deeply committed to his work and how he could continue to positively impact the community.
