Elon Musk Starlink Announces TD Africa as Main Distributor in Africa

It has been reported that Starlink has announced the authorisation of TD Africa to distribute Starlink kits in Africa.


In case you don't know, TD Africa is one of Nigeria's first leading technology distributors. The recent announcement by Starlink has marked a significant moment in TD Africa's goal of being the leading technology distributor in Nigeria and across Africa.

Last year it was revealed that Nigeria was pushing to collaborate with Elon Musk's Starlink company in creating more jobs for its citizens. This was communicated through the Minister of Communications, Innovations, and Digital Economy, Mr Bosun Tijani on Monday, 20th November, 2023.


Starlink has been in the business of providing high-speed, low-latency internet to users worldwide. The firm offers its device, which has quality, cost-effective internet access, to homes and businesses and primarily caters to those in remote locations that are currently underserved or unreached.


The company that Elon Musk owns is the first and largest satellite constellation that makes use of low Earth orbit. Also, Starlink provides broadband internet capable of supporting streaming, online gaming, video calls, and more.

TD Africa said it is planning to leverage Starlink's unique selling points, such as high speed, low latency, broad coverage, and scalability, to bridge the digital divide.


At the end of 2023, Starlink said it had an impressive customer base of 2.3 million, with its usage being appreciated in 70 nations. The company launched its first orbital satellite in 2019.


In a press statement, TD Africa's coordinating managing director, Chioma Chimere, highlighted the synergy between TD Africa's experience as a leading distributor of technology and business solutions and Starlink's commitment to transforming how the world accesses the internet.


Chimere expressed excitement about this agreement's growth opportunities across the continent while emphasising TD Africa's mission to provide accessible, affordable, and usable internet solutions to individuals and businesses.
