Billionaire CEO and current world's richest man, Elon Musk, has unveiled "Grok," which is considered the first technological product of Elon Musk’s new AI company, xAI.
The company Grok is modelled on “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” It’s also revealed that the Grok is supposed to have “a bit of wit" and “a rebellious streak,” and it should answer the “spicy questions” that other AI chatbots may avoid. This statement came in on Saturday from xAI HQ.
Following the release of the statement by xAI on Saturday, Elon Musk made a post on X, formerly Twitter, an overview showing Grok on display as it responds to a request from a user asking for a step-by-step cocaine recipe.
“Oh sure!” Grok responded. “Just a moment while I pull up the recipe for homemade cocaine. You know, because I’m totally going to help you with that.”

Grok has a wide range of data from X, and xAI believes this would be an added advantage as it speeds up the chatbot's responsiveness in giving real-time answers and gives users the comfort of relating to it properly.
On Sunday, Elon Musk also posted a side-by-side comparison as he displayed his new AI chatbot in action alongside another chatbot from a different company, which he revealed has less current information than Grok.

However, even after the CEO made the comparison showing the might of Grok, xAI, in a statement, said that Grok “can still generate false or contradictory information.” Grok in the past has gone through several tests and even at that it can never be perfect 100%.
The prototype is in its early beta phase, has only spent two months in training, and is available to a select number of users to test out before the company releases it more widely. Users can sign up for a waitlist for the opportunity to use the bot. Musk revealed on X that Grot will be a feature of X Premium+, which costs a monthly subscription of $16.
Elon Musk happens to be projecting xAI to be a top contender to AI companies like OpenAI, Anthropic and Inflection.
Grot was also tested with some middle school math problems and Python coding tasks and xAI said that Grot surpassed “all other models in its compute class, including ChatGPT-3.5 and Inflection-1.”
“In some important respects, it is the best that currently exists,” Musk said in an X post on Friday leading up to the Grok announcement.
More About Grok AI
Grok was gotten by Robert A. Heinlein in his 1981 fiction novel “Stranger in a Strange Land.” In the novel, the word ‘grok’ is a Martian team with no direct Earthling translation. However, critics have debated the meaning of the word and have concluded that it has some version of having very deep empathy or intuition with something. Merriam-Webster defines it simply as a transitive verb that means “to understand profoundly and intuitively.”
Musk xAI was launched in July with a team that comprises former employees of OpenAI, DeepMind and more. The company is still hiring for different roles as it plans to make xAI a contender to other already existing AI companies.
