SoftBank and Nvidia are revolutionizing AI integration with telecommunications through SoftBank’s new AI-powered Radio Access Network (AI-RAN) called AITRAS. In a recent trial in Japan, AITRAS showcased simultaneous AI inference and RAN tasks, targeting $5 of AI revenue for every $1 invested in AI-RAN.Additionally, SoftBank has become the first customer for Nvidia's advanced Blackwell chips, which will power Japan’s most powerful AI supercomputer by 2025. The system aims to advance generative AI, benefiting Japanese industries and research institutions as the country pushes to strengthen AI adoption in sectors like robotics, telecommunications, and healthcare.
