Nigeria's startup bill has gotten to the House of Assembly and
has been approved by the Legislators.
The bill was passed with a letter from the presidency on the 21st of February 2022, which shows that the bill needs to place the country’s startup ecosystem and create a National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
“The Nigeria Startup Bill, 2021 aims to position Nigeria Startup ecosystem as the leading digital technology center in Africa, having excellent innovators with cutting edge skills and exportable capacity, to do this, the Bill seeks to establish a National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship.”
“While hoping that this submission will receive the usual
expeditious consideration of the Senate, please accept, Distinguished Senate
President, the assurances of my best regards.” Part of the letter contained.
The bill is passed to make a normal framework for a startup, this is to make them work with the laid down law with no doubt of what their future has installed for them in the tech world.
The bill is also focused to make investors have more faith
in the Nigerian startup and also making provisions needed for a startup in
Nigeria.
Another purpose of the bill is to support local content and move Nigeria startups to the global stage, which will increase their customers and revenue base.
