The Nigerian Central bank issues a new note and ordered banks to collect all old notes that are currently circulating in an effort to prevent cash hoarding cash. Another reason for the new currency is to prevent election vote buying by some politicians who are hoarding cash.

However, it seems that the cash production was rushed and it is not waterproof. There are many pictures and videos going around showing the new naira notes’ color fading soon as it touches water.
