The Nigerian government has stated that Nigerian nationals will be evacuated from Ukraine again today, with a flight from Warsaw, Poland carrying 122 people.
The invasion of Ukraine by Russia is having an impact on individuals all around the world as they flee the country. There were around 14,000 Nigerian nationals in Ukraine, according to reports. Many people have been evacuated, and though many were unsure if they will ever return home to their families in Nigeria, a light at the end of the tunnel seems to be shinning again.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced this on Thursday evening in a statement.
Since the war began, 1076 Nigerians have been evacuated from eastern Europe, according to the report.
The Federal Government (FG) desires to inform Nigerians that evacuation drills would continue with a second flight from Warsaw, Poland, consisting of 122 people and a baby.
The flight is scheduled to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on Friday, March 11th, 2022 at 12:40 a.m., according to the airline.
"On Saturday, March 12th, a third evacuation flight would depart from Budapest, Hungary, for Abuja at 8:00 a.m. Nigerians fleeing Ukraine should contact the Nigerian embassy in Budapest, Hungary, according to the statement.
According to the Ministry, a total of 1076 Nigerians have been evacuated back to Nigeria as a result of the Ukraine conflict.
On the 4th of March, 416 people were evacuated from Bucharest aboard a Max Air flight.
On the 4th of March, 181 people from Poland boarded an Air Peace flight.
On the 4th of March, 174 people from Budapest, Hungary, boarded an Air Peace flight, and 206 people from Budapest, Hungary, boarded an Air Peace flight on the 5th of March.
According to reports, the Nigerian Embassy in Hungary has begun the registration process for the evacuation of Nigerians arriving from Ukraine.
About 2,090 Nigerians had arrived from Ukraine at the Polish, Romanian, Slovakian, and Hungarian embassies in preparation for their evacuation back to Nigeria, according to Ambassador Gabriel Aduda, Nigeria's Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
