Dapper Labs, FLOW, set to invest $1M token grant aimed at black developers and creators
FLOW, Dapper Labs is a blockchain that aims to provide
the foundation for a new generation of games, apps, and the digital assets that
power them, has announced a new funding initiative to promote Web3 diversity.
The company is now taking proposals "for Black
developers, platforms, or producers aiming to build large-scale dApps and
create novel experiences on the blockchain," according to a blog post. The
$1 million donation from FLOW to invest in black tech startups was also
disclosed.
“In addition to the Token grant, recipients will
receive promotional and customized support from a team and network of experts
including technical, design, product, and marketing,” read the blog post, which
also makes it clear that this is in addition to its other initiatives in
celebration of Black History Month. “This grant is one step in FLOW’s
commitment to creating a welcoming environment for all people to join the
ecosystem and that it is a true representation of our diverse world”
In addition, the company has announced intentions to
organize a BootCamp for Black coders, as well as a partnership with Umba Daima,
an NFT art studio, for the NFT Web3 event series in Atlanta. According to its
website, FLOW is designed to be open, accessible and inclusive. The company is

Fast Floward-2 workshop: Beginning
February 21, Flow will collaborate with Decentology to hold a one-week bootcamp
meant to expose key blockchain principles and teach developers how to build
complex web3 applications on Flow using the Hyperverse with just a few lines of

Partnership with Black NFT Art: For the
NFT Web 3 event series in Atlanta, Flow has worked with Umba Daima, an NFT art
studio. To promote building on Flow, the series will include blockchain
seminars and social events. The first event, a workshop led by Decentology,
will take place on February 21 at 6:30 p.m. ET. The course will cover basic NFT
ideas as well as the technical aspects needed to create NFT art on the Flow

Partnership with Black Women on Boards: Flow
partnered with Black Women on Boards, a new global organization dedicated to
assisting Black female CEOs in advancing their careers, to hold an NFT auction
on Versus in order to reach a wider audience and raise funds for the program.
Artist Elise Swopes' NFT, Rise & Shine, will benefit the artist as well as
BWOB's "Lift As You Climb" Fellowship, which aims to inspire the next
generation of diverse talent.
