His father, José Dinis Aveiro, was a gardener and a part-time kit man for a local soccer team, while his mother, Maria Dolores dos Santos Viveiros da Aveiro, was a cook. Since his family was not financially buoyant, he had to share his room with his other three siblings. Cristiano's father revealed to him that he was named "Ronaldo" in honor of "Ronald Reagan."
