Burger King To Open Nigerian Outlet This Year
Burger King, an American multinational hamburger fast-food chain, is expected to start its operations in Nigeria by the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2021.
American burger food chain, Burger King disclosed in an interview on Tuesday, that it was set to begin operations in Nigeria in 2021.
The company's representative, Antoine Zammarieh, announced that the multinational food franchise recently signed a development agreement for the Nigerian market, which will attract more consumers and investors to the market, at this much-needed and difficult time.
To aid operations, the company expects to hire about 6,000 workers in the country between this year and 2026. This will be immensely useful to the Nigerian economy as unemployment rates have been skyrocketing, especially with the pandemic.
Antoine Zammariehin in the interview, said, "Burger King will start operations... between September and November 2021. We have set up the Quality Control unit and have met some of our local suppliers to seal the deal. Also, we have sent some of the ingredients to America for test quality.
As a company, we are delighted to enter this new market being the largest country in Africa and are looking forward to serving our future guests with our world-famous Burger King meal."
Burger King will join other multinational food chains operating in the country like KFC, Dominoes, Chicken Republic in competition for the attention of Nigerians. This comes as supermarket giant, ShopRite exits the Nigerian market after more than 15 years, citing the reason for the leave as bad government policies such as border closures and tight competition. There are reports that it has been purchased by Persianas Properties Limited.
