BREAKING: Bababode Osunkoya the Chairman of Access Holding Plc Is Dead

Access Holdings Plc Board of Directors has announced the death of its beloved Chairman, Bababode Osunkoya.
The statement by the Board of Directors of Access Holdings about the death of Late Bababode Osunkoya was signed by the Company Secretary of Access Holdings Plc, Sunday Ekwochi, on Thursday night, November 23, 2023, and filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX).
In the statement, Ekwochi said that the Late Bababode Osunkoya passed away on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, following a brief illness. He also added that the Board of Directors of Access Holdings will, in due time, announce his successor.
According to Ekwochi, Access Holdings currently has a 9-member board of directors, which comprises six non-executive directors and three executive directors after the death of the Chairman.
The statement reads,
On behalf of the Board of Directors of Access Holdings Plc and with deep sense of loss, we write to notify the Nigerian Exchange Limited and the investing public of the death of Mr Bababode Osunkoya on November 21, 2023, after a brief illness.
Consequent upon the tragic event, the company now has a nine-member board comprising of six non-executive directors (two of whom are independent) and three executive Directors inclusive of the group chief executive officer.
We will notify the investing public subsequently of the board’s choice of his successor.
Who is Bababode Osunkoya?
Bababode Osunkoya is a financial expert with over thirty years of experience across different sectors, including accounting, banking, consulting, and asset leasing. He served as a Managing Partner at Abax-OOSA Professionals, where he led his leadership roles, attaining notable achievements.
Before now, Mr. Osunkoya served as the Principal Partner of Bababode Osunkoya & Co from 1994 to 2007. His start days began in 1984, when he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) at Premier Hotel Limited, Ibadan, in 1985. He later moved to Z.O. Ososanya & Co. (Chartered Accountants), ascending to Assistant Audit Manager by 1988.
In the quest for more experience, Bababode Osunkoya moved to Abacus Merchant Bank Limited in 1989, where he worked until 1993 and rose to the level of a manager. He also demonstrated his leadership as a General Manager at Konsuma Credit Limited from 1993 to 1995, leading the daily administrative and operational activities of the asset leasing and credit finance company.
Since then, Bababode Osunkoya has served in different organizations, including Richardson Oil and Gas Limited, Haggai Mortgage Bank Limited, Sedoso Agro Allied Company Limited, and Guiding Light Assembly. He also served as an Executive Committee member of the Association of Reporting Accountants and Auditors in the Capital Market.
Mr. Osunkoya’s educational background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Lagos, complemented by his status as a certified forensic accountant. He is also recognized as a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN).
