In a daring move, Apple has recently revised its developers' guidelines, issuing a strong warning that no more cloned apps will be accepted on the App Store. This decision is a direct response to the rising concern over numerous applications attempting to impersonate the highly popular AI tool, ChatGPT, on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. Apple unequivocally states that mimicking an app now violates the rules established by the App Store.

According to the updated guidelines, developers are explicitly forbidden from duplicating the code of another app, replicating its user interface, or adopting a similar name to an existing prominent application. Apple underscores the significance of originality and creativity in app development. 

In a direct message to developers, the company declares:

"Submitting apps that imitate or impersonate existing apps or services is a clear violation of the Developer Code of Conduct, and such infringements may result in the removal of the offending app from the Apple Developer Program."

“Come up with your own ideas. We know you have them, so make yours come to life. Don’t simply copy the latest popular app on the App Store, or make some minor changes to another app’s name or UI and pass it off as your own. In addition to risking an intellectual property infringement claim, it makes the App Store harder to navigate and just isn’t fair to your fellow developers.”
