The largest movie theatre chain in the U.S, AMC
Theatres is set to reopen on August 20, the reopening of their theatre will see
them setting prices at 15-cent on the first day.
AMC theatre which is owned by AMC entertainment made
it known on Thursday that doors are also likely to open in over 100 more
cinemas, this reopening would come with a throwback price.
Though AMC has resumed activities in other countries,
it has remained shut in the U.S since March. The reason for this could be that
the U.S seems to be having more to deal with concerning the coronavirus cases, it
has been reported that they have the highest number of cases.
Considering that when other countries were resuming
activities and opening up business operations, it was not the same in the U.S.
The delay to reopen their theatres could be attributed
to them wanting to ensure that all the right protective measures are put in place,
following the rules of social distancing, availability of nose masks, proper
cleaning and any other regulation which would be necessary.
The reopening of their theatres at a price of 15-cent
is in line with what they tagged as “Movies in 2020 at 1920
prices.”
Following the reopening
of AMC theatres, Regal Cinemas which is the second-largest chain will also reopen some of its U.S locations on August 21.
As part of its reopening day
promotion, AMC will show movies which include; Ghost Busters, Black Panther,
Back to the Future, Beauty and the Beast, Bloodshot, Jumanji: The Next Level, I
Still Believe, Goonies, Grease, Sonic the Hedgehog.
The 15-cent promotion price
will also apply to these movies listed here, which is in commemoration of their
100th anniversary.
It was also confirmed that
AMC will be debuting Disney’s “The New Mutant” on August 28 and Christopher
Nolan’s “Tenet” on September 3. Apart from these movies, some others are set to
be viewed in their theatres, some of which include “Unhinged” as well as “Personal
History of David Copperfield”.
The reopening of AMC
theatres would not be in all states, as states like California and New York
have not permitted movie theatres to reopen.
