African payments giant Flutterwave integrates Google Pay in its system
Pan African payments service Flutterwave launched a
new Google Pay payment feature on its platform in September. Google Pay
is a mobile payment service created by Google.
The latest add will be an extra payment option
for businesses using Flutterwave as a result of this partnership. Customers
will benefit from quicker checkout processes as well as safe and easy payments.
Barely two days after raising $250 million in a series
D round, the pan-African financial giant Flutterwave hosted an event in
February 2022 when it announced, among other things, that it would incorporate
Google Pay and Apple Pay into its portfolio of payment options, according to
TechCabal. The company is now delivering on its promise regarding Google Pay,
allowing customers to utilize it to make purchases from merchants on
Flutterwave's marketplaces.
This comes after the company recently enabled buyers
and sellers to conduct direct transactions using cryptocurrencies by
integrating Nigeria's digital currency, the e-Naira, onto its platform. With
these actions, it is evident that Flutterwave is on a quest to provide its
users with quick and varied payment solutions.
Google Pay offers customers a secure, convenient,
and efficient way for contactless in-store, app, and online payments.
Users can save their cards in Google Wallet, a digital wallet app
accessible on Android smartphones, tablets, or watches.
Through this partnership, customers of Google Pay in
supported nations can make payments to businesses using Flutterwave in Africa.
This connection is intended to lower the rate of cart abandonment for
businesses using Flutterwave with an average transaction execution time of 3
minutes.
“The continued and rapid growth of Flutterwave is due
to our commitment to building a platform with simplified payments for everyone.
The GooglePay payment option will attract more international customers and
increase the current success rates for businesses on Flutterwave,” said
Flutterwave CEO Olugbenga Agboola.
“Integrating with Google pay will allow users across
the globe to participate in the booming e-commerce ecosystem in Africa. It will
enable us to further fulfill our promise of creating endless possibilities for
all.”
How
it works:
·
Make sure your business is listed as a
registered one on Flutterwave. If you do not already have an account, you can
create one by going to the website.
·
Go to your dashboard after logging into
your Flutterwave account.
·
Activate the "Account settings"
tab.
·
Activate Dashboard Payment Options by
clicking on it.
·
You will see a list of payment
options.
·
Select the Google Pay option.
·
Your checkout modal will now display the
chosen payment options.
When Google Pay is enabled on your device, the
Flutterwave merchant's checkout page will say "Pay with Google Pay." To
finish your payment, click it and adhere to the prompt as it sends you to your
Google Pay account. As soon as your payment is verified on the modal, you are
immediately taken to the merchant's checkout page.
