Fahim Saleh the founder of Gokada ride sharing company found dead, his body dismembered
Fahim Saleh, the co-founder of Pathao and Gokada was found dead in an apartment in New York City. US media reported that the body of Saleh was found dismembered in a flat on Monday afternoon.
According to the US report, CCTV footage on the apartment Fahem's dead body was found showed that he entered the building alongside a man wearing a mask. The man who was dressed in all black is suspected to be Saleh's assailant. Added to this, a source revealed that the elevator which Saleh used when he got to the apartment entered directly to his unit.
Saleh's body was chopped into pieces and kept in individual bags in his room. In fact, Saleh's sister revealed that she found his torso in a little corner in the room. His dismembered body was found with an electric saw behind it. This made an unnamed source in the law enforcement agencies refer to the scene as a professional killing.
His death was confirmed by his family in a statement which reads:
"The headlines talk about a crime we still cannot fathom," the statement said. "Fahim is more than what you are reading. He is so much more. His brilliant and innovative mind took everyone who was a part of his world on a journey and he made sure never to leave anyone behind."
"There are no words or actions to provide any of us comfort except the capture of the person who exhibited nothing short of evil upon our loved one."
Saleh is best known for taking the ride-sharing business into two great African countries: Nigeria and Bangladesh
Gokada took to their twitter page to express their grief over Saleh's death.
"We are deeply saddened to inform you about the sudden and tragic loss of our founder and CEO, Fahim Saleh," the firm said on Wednesday.
Who is Fahim Saleh?
Saleh is a 33 years old tech entrepreneur in ride-sharing companies, especially in Nigeria and Bangladesh. He is a co-founder of Gokada and Pathao. Saleh is the son of Bangladeshi immigrants. He created his first company while still in high school and went ahead to co-found the ride-sharing company Pathao in 2015. The ride-sharing Pathao company is popular in Bangladesh and Nepal.
He recently co-founded the Gokada motorbike taxi app in Nigeria. However, the company's existence was halted after the Lagos state government banned motorbike taxis earlier this year.
When the shocking announcement of his death was made, both companies paid their homage to him. Gokada described Saleh as "a great leader, inspiration, and positive light for all of us."
Hussein M Elius, who co-founded Pathao with Saleh, told Bangladesh's Daily Star newspaper that "Fahim believed in the potential for technology to transform lives in Bangladesh and beyond.
"He saw the promise in us when all we had was a common purpose and a shared vision. He was, and will forever remain, an incredible inspiration for Pathao and our entire ecosystem."
"We need and urge the NYPD and other members of law enforcement to work diligently to get to the bottom of this horrific crime and bring justice for Fahim," his family said.
Gokada twitter handle released a statement confirming his death.
