Recently,
in a YouTube interview with Marques Brownlee, Billionaire and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates revealed that he acquired a new Porsche Taycan Turbo S.
This electric vehicle is worth about $185,000 in the automobile market.
In the
YouTube chat, Bill Gates praised Tesla motors, however, he said he had to
choose a Porsche car as his first electric car. He further disclosed that
several factors were deterring potential buyers from buying electric vehicles.
The factors he mentioned include mileage between charges, the length of time
required to charge the car and the high cost of these vehicles.
Highlighting
the positive impact of Tesla on the electric vehicle market, he said, "And
certainly Tesla, if you had to name one company that has helped drive that, it
is them. You know I just got a Porsche Taycan, which is an electric car and I
have to say it is a premium-priced car but yeah, it is very very
cool."
Overview
of the Porsche Taycan Turbo S
The Porsche Taycan is an electric vehicle that is manufactured by German 'car
maker', Porsche. The interior of the Taycan is made up of four digital
displays. These include a curved, free-standing 16.8 configurable driver's
display, a 10.9-inch screen that serves as the car's infotainment system, an
optical screen that enables configuration of the infotainment system at the
right side of the infotainment screen and an 8.4-inch screen at the center console
with a track-pad to control functions.
The
exterior of the Taycan is similar to the exterior written by former Porsche
exterior designer, Mitja Borkert; and it is routinely influenced by the Mission
E concept. The exterior has a retractable rear spoiler, retractable door handle
and an advanced regenerative braking system.
The
Taycan Turbo S is quite similar to the broad-brush blueprint, has an incredible
performance and a battery floor. The Taycan Turbo S has a panoramic fixed glass
roof with a reflective UV layer that is similar to that of Tesla's electric
vehicle. When in motion, the energy is mainly replenished by the Electricity
America network.
The
Taycan Turbo S and Tesla Model 3 are quite similar in some ways:
- The
front motor of the Turbo S is the same as Tesla's Model 3 permanent-magnet
rear motor.
- Both
models comprise a combined 750 hp permanent magnet which enhances the
mechanical decoupling of the rear motor.
- Both
models have a dual-speed transmission system for both low and high-speed
performance.
An
excerpt from Chris Walton's note reads, " The first thing I noticed is
that the Taycan does not squat when it launches, It stays flat to maintain some
weight over the front tires. The Porsche's height-adjusting air suspension was
keeping it plumb-level and does what feels like an imminent burn out until
about 40 mph.
Comparing
the prices of the Porsche Taycan and Tesla EV
The
Taycan Turbo S starts at 83,000 pounds in the UK markets and $103,000 in the US
markets
Tesla
Model 3 starts at 42,000 pounds in the UK and $40,000 in the US.
Elon
Musk's Reaction to the News
The news
of Bill Gates acquiring an electric Porsche vehicle did not go quite well with
the CEO of Tesla Motors, Elon Musk. Musk took a swipe at Gates on Twitter.
"My conversations with Gates have been underwhelming, to be honest,"
Musk wrote.
This tweet steered some controversies and a huge percentage of Musk's fan was unimpressed with his response. This made them take a swipe at both him and his company.
